(Niles, IL) A.L.P., leading global supplier of components for lighting and other manufacturing industries, is pleased to announce leadership changes to strengthen the company and its customer relationships. Effective July 2, 2023, Adam Mayse has been promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer, from Metals Business Unit Manager. In addition, Tom Barnes has been promoted to VP And Business Manager, from Optical Business Unit Manager. These moves are part of a larger strategic reorganization to centralize product-related activities, streamline operations, and support the changing requirements of the marketplace.
In his new role as President and COO, Adam Mayse will have strategic and managerial responsibility for manufacturing operations, customer experience, corporate services, finance, sales, and marketing. Adam joined A.L.P. in 1997 and has held a variety of management positions in engineering, operations, and product management, as well as domestic and international sales. He has also worked in other technical industries outside of lighting and brings a fresh perspective to delivering value to A.L.P.’s OEM partners and customers.
As VP and Business Manager, Tom Barnes will have enterprise-wide responsibility for A.L.P.’s product development, marketing communications, design engineering, sales resource, and pricing functions. Tom has managed the company’s optical business unit since 2007 when A.L.P. acquired Spectrus, Inc., including the LexaLite® brand. He is a Certified Lighting Professional and holds four patents related to plastics in lighting.

After the transition, Steve Brown will remain as CEO and David Brown, former COO, will be stepping away from day-to-day involvement after 46 years of service to the company. David will be an active member of A.L.P.’s Board of Directors, using his extensive experience to support budgeting, major projects, and strategic planning initiatives.

New Silicone TIR Optic for Outdoor Lighting is Virtually Indestructible

A.L.P. is pleased to introduce the new 1100 Series, a Type V Total Internal Reflection (TIR) optic optimized for COBs with a Light Emitting Surface of up to 18mm. Designed for use in outdoor lighting or other high-power applications, the optical-grade Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) optic provides excellent transmittance, impact resistance and high temperature operation while being immune to UV degradation. The 1100 Series offers 65-degree beam distribution, allowing for greater spacing while maintaining uniformity.
Its flange provides mounting features that are compatible with off-the-shelf frames, and bottom side of the optic includes mounting alignment features.

The unique conditions in today’s lighting market present challenges for lighting OEMs. “These component kits will allow our customers a hassle-free opportunity to introduce new fixtures,” explains Adam Mayse, A.L.P.’s Metals Business Unit Manager. “All they need to do is add electronics using either Standard or Emitter LED boards, and they are good to go,” he adds.

Press Release: A.L.P.® Purchases Key Assets of Sur-Seal Optical Molding Business
(Niles, IL) A.L.P.® has expanded our industry-leading optical silicone molding capabilities by purchasing molding machines and other key assets from Sur-Seal LLC. The equipment is installed in the Charlevoix, MI facility and is operational. As a result, A.L.P. will have six presses capable of molding Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) in Charlevoix and has plans to expand this technology to our Monterrey, MX facility in fiscal year 2023. Sur-Seal, in turn, will turn their focus to the core business of producing silicone gaskets.
“A.L.P. sees a great future in optical silicone molding for LED outdoor, industrial and automotive lighting applications,” states Tom Barnes, Vice President and Business Unit Manager. “The opportunity to cooperate with Sur-Seal in this equipment transfer, as they transition out of LSR optics, puts A.L.P. in a strong position to fulfill that emerging demand,” he adds.

A.L.P. Introduces the Lineman™ Utility Grade Post-Top Globe
(Niles, IL) A.L.P. is pleased to announce the introduction of the Lineman™, a new utility-grade post-top globe. Designed to illuminate walkways, parks, and roadways, the Lineman features a nostalgic, turn-of-the-century shape with modern material choices for an economical alternative to other performance globes.
It is versatile, attractive, and affordable. The Lineman features a configurable top so that the appearance can be customized for any application. In addition, multiple finished shapes can be created by adding cap or finial options.
This new utility-grade post-top is easy to install and maintain. The innovative locking design allows the top and bottom to be efficiently shipped and then permanently field assembled with no tools. Manufactured in acrylic for longevity without discoloration, the Lineman is compatible with LED lamp sources and poles with a height of 10’ to 20’.
The Lineman is the latest addition to the 400 Series injection molded post-tops from the A.L.P. LexaLite brand. It can be shipped economically in two or three pieces. In addition, it has the same maximum diameter (15.9”) as A.L.P.’s popular The Lindy® refractor, offering the potential for component sharing.
For OEM and retrofit applications, A.L.P.’s traditionally styled Lineman post-top globe is a less expensive alternative to other performance optics that does not compromise on the durability and versatility integral to the 400 Series.
