  • Production/Materials Manager

  • Lithia Springs, GA

FUNCTION:

Manages the Direct Labor work force and its supervisory staff, ensuring that customer satisfaction, cost, quality, and productivity are optimized. Responsible for planning, coordinating, scheduling and controlling the procurement and delivery of production materials and finished stock.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in Lean events and initiatives to support a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Supervise the activities of the department: provide training, support, and guidance; conduct performance evaluation reviews; determine the department’s staffing requirements consistent with the volume and budget levels, authorizing overtime as necessary.
  • Manage the department in compliance with ISO standards.
  • Maintain the flow of materials and components throughout the department ensuring all necessary parts are available prior to commencing a new job.
  • Investigate problems on the production floor and ensure corrective and preventative action is taken.
  • Notify Maintenance Department of necessary repairs or required maintenance for production equipment.
  • Work with the Human Resources liaison at local facility to communicate and support policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and improve current EFF levels.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries meeting customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
  • Supervise and establish procedures for taking and valuing the year-end physical inventory. Monitor maintenance of perpetual inventory system to ensure the highest degree of accuracy throughout the year.
  • Direct the write-offs of obsolete and damaged inventory to maintain realistic valuation of goods-on-hand.
  • Oversee and ensure proper production control planning and scheduling programs to meet sales forecasts and to balance the level of manpower and machine requirements.
  • Maintain proper contact with customers relating to releases and deliveries.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, equipment, and services according to requirements of the company’s operations. Investigate and solve problems resulting from material shortages, however caused.
  • Develop, establish, and provide for the maintenance of reporting systems that relate to the materials function.
  • Manage the shipping and receiving functions of the company and oversee the storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
  • Keep abreast of new sources of supply to maximize use of just-in-time inventory practices.
  • Ensure the company’s established procedures are followed in connection with all Materials Department functions.
  • Motivate subordinates and develop subordinates’ skills to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth.
  • Responsible for any other special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Degree in Business Management preferred; or the equivalent
  • 5 years of supervisory/management experience in a similar environment
  • Proven track record in productivity improvements, cost reductions and team development while working within ISO guidelines
  • 5 plus years’ experience in Materials Management in a cellular manufacturing environment

FUNCTION:

Responsible for developing and facilitating activities with the goal of improving product quality, developing quality systems, reducing scrap and rework, and improving external and internal customer satisfaction. Takes a direct hands-on role in helping to identify improvement opportunities, and to lead/facilitate action plans and implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate with process owners to resolve nonconforming conditions by developing and facilitating corrective and preventative actions.
  • Develop and document inspection and verification procedures for use by department personnel.
  • Perform internal audits of the quality system and verification activities as requested.
  • Develop, publish and implement Quality Assurance training programs for employees.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge and experience of working to ISO standard including writing policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline and/or applicable experience.
  • 5 or more years of Quality experience in a manufacturing sector required.
  • Must have working knowledge in metrology and gauge R&R
  • Must have experience in data analysis using statistical methods
  • American Society for Quality (ASQC) and Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certification a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma certification desired.

Perform duties to assist supervisor to maintain the flow of work and to ensure product quality and quantity is achieved by performing set ups and start ups of injection mold machines; troubleshoot abilities required as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

FUNCTION:

Sets up and operates CNC equipment, repair equipment and write or modify machining methods to improve product quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Confer with Tool Room Manager to resolve machining problems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks before, during and after operations on machine centers.

  • Review and verify traveler and/or process sheet instructions, blueprints, tool sheet and inspection procedures to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece and sequence of operations.
  • Setup of CNC machine center for “first piece” machining.
  • Operate CNC vertical or horizontal mills.
  • Verify and visually inspect small tools and tooling kit to ensure correct tooling, sequence of tool use and tool offsets.
  • Monitor and adjust machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Monitor and observe machining operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Inspect finished work piece to verify conformance to specifications with visual checks and the use of mechanical measuring equipment, tools or gages.
  • Fit and assemble parts into completed assembly. Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.

  • Two years’ experience and/or training with setup and operation of CNC machinery or equivalent combination of education and experience.

FUNCTION:

Perform duties to maintain and repair a variety of production and plant facility equipment and assist supervisor with ordering parts, standardizing components and maintaining repair parts inventories.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
